Poor, erstwhile Laurence Wall. I can't think of a greater irony than sending a postcard like this to him - not only does he have a strong grasp of English grammar, he also has the power to rant about it on Canada's CBC Radio and the disposition to make numerous phone calls to find someone in the offending company who actually cares that a missing comma has resulted in an unintended (?) sexual innuendo. Laurence wrote:
"I phoned [the local] Honda then Honda Canada yesterday to point out the missing comma after "doing" and the sexually suggestive meaning it left. It was clear that Honda wasn't at all bothered by the error and didn't care that it had gone out to thousands of customers.
"What businesses need to do is hire a couple of grammarians to put things right. I'll wait for pigs to fly across a blue moon first."
You can tune in to Ottawa's CBC Radio programs (91.5 FM / www.cbc.ca/ottawa) to hear Laurence's local newscasts, random musings and occasional rants.
