What do I love most about this sign? It takes as much mental effort to read it as it must have taken the person to try to spell it - what a struggle!

Here's (or should I say "Hers") an advertisement that's rife with nits for nitpickers to pick at! How many errors do you spot? I found five (5).

Call me weird, but I think this sign would be funny even without the spelling error...

I love it when a grammatical error, spelling mistake, or malapropism actually create a new word, concept, or deeper level of meaning. Take this sign in Florida, which is supposed to be advertising lawn mower repairs. I'm not really certain what a "LawOwer" is but it seems plausible. I wonder if this person is doing much business ...

Our contributor, Paige from Gainesville FL, says:
"The other side of the sign (which I wasn't able to photograph) is spelled the same way, but the sign maker tried to insert an N after the fact.  Still no sign of the missing M."

IN NEED OF SERVICE

Janet from Lawrence, Kansas, writes: "This sign can be found at a busy intersection in Lawrence, Kansas. How could one sign go so horribly wrong?  SERVICE'S INC. CLUTCHS. AC- SERVICE.

"(It's pretty common here to see Massachusetts Street abbreviated as it is on this sign [Mass w/o a period]; I could almost forgive that. But the rest of it?)

"I wonder how much it cost to have this sign made."

Indeed. On a positive note, they did choose the right "axle" ... suggesting that they may not be great with grammar and spelling, but they seem to know their area of expertise!

"Here's one from a spaghetti box I bought yesterday.The recycling label says, 'This box contains 50% recycled post-consumer material.'

"Considering that the box looked as though it contained spaghetti, this statement worried me. But it's possible that they meant, 'This box is made from 50% recycled post-consumer material.'

"I'd still like to know what that material is. What are post-consumers made of anyway?"
